The adjustment is used on joints that are restricted. The chiropractor determines where in the spine or extremity a restriction exists and they giveĀ a light thrust into the restriction resuming normal joint movement. Prolonged joint restriction results in muscle spasm which will alter normal biomechanics of the spine or extremity and eventually lead to pain. Common symptoms relieved by an adjustment are: headaches, joint pain, or stiffness. Many times conditions such as plantar fascitis, degenerative arthritis, fibromyalgia, or other musculoskeletal conditions respond favorable to chiropractic treatment with minimal treatments. Each patient responds differently depending on what type of adjustment they prefer and how the spine is shaped. In our clinic Dr. Meyer uses a diversified technique, meaning she uses manual, activator, flexion-distraction, and Thompson drop to suit the patients needs.
